How it works
Tempe collects bulk trash and green organics on a published schedule. Check the city's current bulk collection schedule for your week, and keep trash and yard waste in separate piles.
Cities update these programs often. Confirm your date and the current rules on the official Tempe bulk trash page.
The rules
- Have items out by 6:00 a.m. Monday of your scheduled collection week
- Don't set them out more than 10 days before that Monday
- Separate trash and green organics into two piles, 4 feet apart
- Keep piles 4 feet from containers, fire hydrants, gas meters, and utility boxes
- Holidays during the week don't change your collection
What bulk pickup won't take
- Dirt, concrete, and bricks
- Car parts
- Tires
- Paint, oil, and other hazardous materials
Hauling it yourself
Tempe residents can take up to 1,000 pounds of material to the city transfer station once a month at no extra charge.
A dump trailer makes that trip a lot easier: the hydraulic bed unloads the whole pile in seconds. See where to dump in the Phoenix area.
When bulk trash isn't enough
- Your collection week is weeks away, like at the end of a lease
- You have dirt, concrete, or remodel debris
- The load is more than 1,000 pounds for a transfer station trip
- Items are still upstairs in an apartment
That's when it's worth calling us. Junk removal in Tempe means our crew carries it out and hauls it away on your schedule. Or rent a dump trailer and clear it at your own pace.
